Crystal Lake welcomes author Darrell Pitt.

Darrell’s sci-fi novel Quantum X will be released in 2027.

Darrell Pitt is an Australian author with a love of the weird and the mysterious. His earliest memories are enjoying episodes of The Outer Limits, Tales of the Unexpected and the classic Twilight Zone series. Many of Darrell’s writing echoes a similar theme: the lone protagonist facing insurmountable odds in an environment filled with horror and the unexplained.

When not writing, these days Darrell reads the works of Joe Hill, Harlan Coben, Michael Crichton and whatever book he has at hand. A resident of Melbourne, he enjoys life with his wife, overflowing bookshelves and a love of the mysterious.

A sneak peek into Quantum X:

Earth is fracturing. For two years, breaches in the multiverse have unleashed nightmare creatures and lethal weather upon our world. Ex-cop Jason Matheson, still reeling from his wife’s death, works for Breach Division, the agency tasked with stopping the chaos. But as the world slides toward disaster, Jason’s life is further upended: his headquarters is levelled in an explosion, and he is framed for the attack.

Then, things get even stranger.

A voice begins speaking inside Jason’s head. It reveals a terrifying truth: Declan Blaire, the billionaire head of Breach Division, is the one causing the catastrophes. According to the voice, a rogue Artificial Intelligence created by Blaire will achieve sentience and trigger a global extinction event in just six days.

Hunted by the law and forced to traverse the treacherous multiverse, Jason must find a way to silence the voice in his head and stop Blaire’s AI before humanity’s time runs out.
